Kaspersky: India ranks 4th in hacked servers list

According to the Kaspersky report, Cyber criminals can sell and buy access to compromised servers for only $6 each.

India has been ranked 4th in the list of hacked servers available for sale and India is one of the most effected nation with over 3488 compromised servers.

There are more than 70,000 compromised servers which have been owned by large companies, governments and educational institutes in more than 173 countries. These servers are being sold on marketplace named xDedic. Russian speaking group is active in running Xdedic marketplace and they have access to 70000 hacked Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) servers.

It is very much pertinent that the security of organizations, educational institutes and other corporations including gaming, banking, dating and shopping websites have been compromised.

xDedic granting access to following organizations:
1. Government networks, Universities and other Corporations.
2. Hosting certain organizational websites and services, including betting, dating, online shopping, gaming and online banking.
3. Servers with pre-installed software that could facilitate an attack, including direct mail, financial and PoS software.

The report claims that cyber criminals can used the listed servers and target the governments, universities and other Corporations IT’s infrastructure with out their knowledge.
